When we awoke we were
sailing towards our stop for the next 2 days, the interestingly named Yorkey's
Knob. We had no fixed plans for today so had a leisurely breakfast and then
went to get the tender.
The journey took around 20 minutes. We then got the shuttle bus into
Cairns as we wanted to see where our excursion tomorrow would go from. The bus
ride took about 30 minutes but did drop us near the waterfront and we were able
to locate where we would need to be tomorrow and get our tickets.
It was another warm day so we found a shady spot in a waterside bar which was
very pleasant. This area is in the tropics, just north of the Tropic of
Capricorn and is very lush and humid.
We then headed back to the ship. Celebrity Edge has a 'magic carpet',
which is a platform that can be moved up and down on the outside of the ship.
It is usually a bar but on tender days it is used as a platform to get on and
off the tenders which feels much safer than exiting through a side door onto a
fairly rickety walkway.
Visiting Sydney and Melbourne, followed by an 11-night cruise along the Great Barrier Reef on Celebrity Edge.
