We knew there was going to be a significant drop in temperature and so it was. Having arrived in Melbourne in 44C of heat it was a shock to the system to step outside to 16C. First task was to purchase a hoodie each which we successfully did.
We had a wander round the shops and a quick lunch in Myers. We then got the tram to Albert Park - home to the Australian Grand Prix which would take place in March. Trams in Melbourne are plentiful and free within the Central Business District (CBD) which is fantastic.
We had a lovely walk around the Park. We saw people practising on the driving range, two cricket matches and loads of cyclists and runners. Melbourne is certainly a sports paradise. In 2013 on a cruise round the Far East we got to know two 'neighbours' from Melbourne. We had arranged to meet Jill and her daughter Clare in a bar by the River Yarra.
It was so lovely to spend time with Jill and Arthur and Claire and Ola. The conversation flowed and, before we knew it, two hours had passed. We said our goodbyes and got the tram back to near our hotel.
